Ello,
I am in Darwin for a couple of months and I am looking for keen climbers to hook up with. Anyone getting out or know of any climbers up here? I would be grateful if you could pass on my details if you know anyone. My email is rbinstead({at})gmail.com and number is 0422 956 967.
Cheers,
Rich.

Hi there
If you go to the indoor gym at Doctor's Gully (right near town) you should find some climbing partners. Usually the busy night is Thursday. There are a fair number of outdoor places to go though most are about 1.5 hours away from Darwin.
The only problem you may have with is finding ready partners because it is getting into the worst time of the year to climb in the top end (being the build-up). Camping suck at this time. You may find soem takers though they tend to opt for other stuff at this time of year (until the dry season starts again).
Somewhere with water would be a good option and perhaps for a day trip only. There are some barefoot soloing (over water) places listed in the guide.
Stu, a Cherman backpacker, put together this guide to climbing fairly recently:

His email address is in the foreword though he is pretty busy these days. Feel free to post again if you have any queries.

Thanks Adrian. I have hooked up with a couple of people up here crazy enough to go out in this heat. It think a trip to Hayes creek is on the cards. Bring on the sweat!
