Hi Dave,

Great to hear you've got the enthusiasm to drive to Araps.

As a beginner you may find it difficult to find to find a willing partner.
If you've got limited outdoor experience maybe consider doing a course down there.
I'd suggest you also get a few slings and screw gates and a belay device as well as a helmet.
You can put up a notice down at Araps for prospective partners.
Be humble and honest about your outdoor abilities (quite frankly indoor climbing experience is irrelevant) and state what your outdoor experience (number of climbs/styles/grades etc)
Most prospective partners will want to see that you can belay a lead climber correctly, probably using double ropes, abseil and extract natural pro. If you don't the minimum of these skills I'd seriously suggest you take a course at Araps.
