Hey everyone, looking to meet some people keen on hitting up the Burnley wall and some other inner city bluestone and whatnot, as I have no money for the gym at the moment. Been a couple of times by myself but it's not as fun. I used to climb a fair bit when I lived in the ACT, but haven't touched a wall in a few years, and none of my friends here are in to it. Anyway, I'm thinking about going out a couple of times a week in the arvo/evening as part of my get fit qui.. uh, slowly plan, so if anyone's interested let me know here. I live in Collingwood if that helps.
Cheers.

I'd be up for meeting at one of the bouldering walls in Merri creek/Yarra area now the evenings are getting longer, if that's of interest to you (Heidleberg Rd bridge or the glue-up near the children's farm). None of it's fantastic, but still more pleasant than plastic when the weathers' good IMO.

Sounds good Ben, the childrens farm glue up is just down the road from me. I might head down for a look on tuesday (23/10) after I've had a nice lentil as anything dinner, if you're interested lets make a time.
I've replied to your PM as well Micheal
Cheers guys

Be warned, I had a footer blow about 8 meters up on that wall. Climbed it heaps of times, one day she just went.

Mods - This ongoing banter about my large frame is starting to become tedious.
One day, just u wait Miguel75, I will be skinny. Then I will be happy, because carrying all this excess does weigh me down.

Welcome to my world Dan;) Mr. Chow says: "It's funny because he's fat!", and he's right.

I think that on the 'balance of probabilities', there is even more chance of Miguel75 'porking up'!!!
Enough time, food, alcohol and age seems to have that impact on most skinny frames. Just be prepared to 'weight him out' Dan.

The convent church has some good walls too now that it is unfenced after reno's. The street side bluestone is lit up at night and has a few good juggy up lines. Traversing around the back (in the convent grounds) is a good warm up also.

Na, I'll die skinny. Been losin a kilo or two every year for a few years now. Apparently I need a wife to pork up a bit. Fat chance of that happening.

Yeah, there's one section when traversing on that wall where I always end up higher than I'm comfortable with and have had the thought that if something blows then I'll probably end up on the concrete path taking out a cyclist in the process.
Mind you, I find it hard to believe the wall is 8 meters high at that point; unless you're taking the height from the Yarra waterline!
Will check out this bluestone wall at the convent you mentioned.

Not the traverse, the up line(s). I thought you were keen on the top out too?
Just had a look at the pic of the wall, prolly closer to 6 meters, high enough to scare the crap out of me.
Second last row of holds, somewhere in the middle??

Mods are good at resisting doing that on this site. You must have been on another site's forum.

Huh? Where is this wall? Must be less than 10 minutes from my house but I've never seen it.

This is not the Merri Creek, this is on the Yarra. Just down from Johnston St bridge towards Dight Falls.

Given Al is closer to 3 metres tall, that photo makes the wall look shorter...

... and we know that shortman isn't!
There is probably a climb name in amongst this somewhere?
;-)
