Hey all,
My boyfriend and I are currently sailing Bass Straight, we stopped and climbed on Erith Island in the Kent group (Deal Island) he has put the story here;

If anyone from previous trips could shed some light on the lines we did that would be sweet.

Michael Hampton & Geoff Butcher (and others) have been there a couple of times in the 1990s as far as I know. Maybe even Glen Tempest was involved? They did a lot of climbing.

"The Kent group of Islands is in a remote setting about a quarter of the way to Tasmania from mainland Australia"
If you are in the Kent Group, you are already in Tasmania. As is the case with the vast majority of Bass Strait islands.

They certainly did. I have copies of the routes somewhere (how can you misplace a laptop?) If anybody wants a copy PM me and I'll see if I can find the laptop (how easy is it going to be to lose my new netbook?).

Straitened that one out thanks, geography will however remain the same. BA those route descriptions would be great, I will PM muchly appreciated. Yeah we found some slings above the pillar and the other routes were beautiful and obvious lines so no boubt they have been climbed.

Nigel Brothers et al. (2001) Tasmania's Offshore Islands: seabirds and other natural features. Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Hobart.
Chris Baxter reviewed it in an issue of Rock some time ago.
I don't know how to post a photo onto this site but following link should get you to the front cover of the book. It should get you drooling and there are many more photographs and much information about access inside.

I've got the descriptions on file Tobias. Tried leaving a comment on your blog but had a few problems.
Here's a link to some photos.

We were going to add the route descriptions from the old Rock Mag to thesarvo site, as they are in "Tasmania" - but seem to have lost them. If you have time, it would be great to have them entered plus photos. Or Jon or I can do it for you (and Neil, any chance you could enter in the changes you talked about to the Frenchman's Cap site? Ta.).
