First upside down whipper.... not too cool! 17-Oct-2010 At 7:53:18 AM custardarms

I tied into my leg-loops only once and then fell clipping the chains (on the route Scum at south central). It was a short route and with the slack out I ended up upside down hanging from my knees in my leg-loops eye to eye with my belayer.

I also decided to back jump Junket Pumper to clean it. I was hanging from a jug after just removing the second draw and decided to just drop onto the ledge about one foot below me. I didn't realise how steep the route was so ended up on the ledge but overbalancing backwards. I ended-up doing a (not so) gracoius dive backwards and headfirst, luckily the first bolt was just below the offending ledge and ended up with a couple of feet before being speered headfirst into the ground.

That was 2 headfirst falls in six months, thankfully there have been no more in the last 16 years.
