Because everyone climbs plastic these days, and those routes are so different.
Maybe related to the "Why are old routes so hard?" thread currently running
At least with granite slabs, the difference from plastic is obvious to anyone.
Harder routes on granite tend to be crimpy things, which gets more like plastic again.
(Ignoring something like Vertigo, but I think George Fieg's given up trying to free that? anyway its about 13 grades harder again)
