So I have been doing some pretty serious resting at the infamous Petes Eats in Llanberis, while taking serious advantage of their internet 'honesty' system. I have also been spundling my way through all the pristine copies of Rock from the 80s and 90s that exist in the huge magazine collection here.
The point is that I came across an interview with Harry Luxford in Rock 23 in which he states that he cemented up the chipped "foothold on the otherwise blank wall" on Foreword back in 1975.
I thought that the chip must have been the ridiculous big sandy jug (alluded to by mike) which is clearly visible in pic above. Even though this seemed to be above the hard section of the crack, where it goes back to lock and jamB size. And it doesnt help at all with the slabby traverse.
I think I remember seeing some greyish 'rock' around the traverse as well.
So if the chip has been fixed, what is the origin of the sandy hole next to the peg? The rock there is such that it could be a natural feature. But it could also have been done with a mattock.
