Well last weekend saw 3 of us heading to point perp to scare ourselves silly.
The three compatriots were me Max fourman, Marcus morley and barton > ?.
after a gentle sport climbing intorduction for barton, we headed to nowra and morley and barton di dracophylum corner 9, while I toproped a 22 in the rain, the other two got the better adventure (falling while toproping on a n ascender inst exactly nerve shattering. We got rained out, shared honeymoon bay with every canberra family that weekend and managed to get up extremely late when the rain finally stopped, ah well. first up was room with a view 12 which I led (though on a previous trip for some reason I toproped it barefoot, it seemed harder in shoes?!?!? !
room with a view (im setting up an anchor form absiel before pulling the ropes. over the rainbow 21, goes up the bold arete to the left, no gear after the break, maybe next time ill have the balls to lead it, megadeath 20 traverses the overhung buttress at half height! ! !
plan for next time is to sling up a hammock/portaledge somewhere exposed to sleep!
we also rapped in and scared ourselves silly on raptures of the deep, though no luck climbing it as we got so blown around on absiel (scary) that we couldn't find any good anchors
after a very nivce late lunch we went on to toprope and lead a variety of mid grade routes, all in all very fun.
get to point perp, only there can one be the most scared they have ever been in their life, on a 15. This place even beats booroomba, which for a long time has been my favourite place to test the buttock clenching capacity on runout slabs. It rocks!
