A posse of climbers including myself drove out on Sunday for an afternoon at the Cobaw state forest. The recent fire has devastated much of the bush in the park, including around the first area 4.6km in from the 3 way junction at the entrance. Fortunately the established problems here still appear intact and uneffected.

After exploring the established problems, we discovered a new boulder (as yet un-named) directly over the road where the fires hadn't been. After a thorough cleaning we left with four good new problems from V1 to V3.

A perfect autumn day in the hills. Hopefully after some more rain, the area will recover from the fire. For those wanting to go out there, best to bring out a mat and carpet to stand on to save getting your boots and the problems dirty.

Anyone lost a chalk bag at the Cobaws? Rumour has it that there were boulderers there when they lit up the park and in their haste to leave they forgot their chalk bag.
Anyway I have the chalk bag now courtesy of the Department Sustainability and Environment. Let me know the color and make and you can have it back.
