A good point about who should give star ratings Mr hipster.
Mr nmonteith wrote an interesting post, but I think it a little bit sad that it needed posting to begin with. Anyway possums, here is another little help along for it, in respect of the bit about listing "First ascent party names (the leader and 2nd if applicable)."
Older climbing folk already know this but perhaps the newer climbing folk may not. It is usually the case that a climb lists those names in order of pitches led, and if the partly were not swinging leads on a multipitch and where the individual pitches are not attributed to a name, then the word "various" is used afterwards. If a party of three (or more) does the climb on its first ascent then "various" (or sometimes "alternate") is often put in after the actual leaders names, and the remaining names on the list means they were there but seconded, or thirded or whatever. Dearie me I think I may be starting to sound confusing to the lovely Chockstone readers, so I will leave it at that. |
