If you find some more time or are climbed out by lunch on your second day, I would consider driving through from Halls Gap (off the Western Highway and in the Northern Grampians) down through to Dunkeld (in the Southern Grampians).

This would be a long cut but worth doing if you are climbed out. It is on a good made road and the scenery is really bloody nice. Get to Dunkeld on or before sunset as it is really stunning. You can find your way back to the highway from Dunkeld.

This may be contentious, however, as it would waste valuable climbing time.

It is also worth noting, Arapiles is awesome so do not be deceived on the drive in, by its low-ish profile.
