While we are on the subject... something that needs to be said.

Castle Hill is totally awesome and unique - but also limited and vulnerable.
I wrote an article about Castle Hill for OTE a couple of years ago. But I feel pretty guilty about it now.

Now that Castle hill has finally been 'discovered' by the rest of the world, the crowds are descending. This means that the more popular areas are starting to get a bit trashed. It's a real tragedy. Let's try to avoid repeating the mistakes we (as a community) have made in the past.

SO If you do go and climb at Castle Hill, PLEASE take EXTRA special care of the place. Access is delicate. Keep a low profile, and make sure you respect and obey the wishes of the land owners (no going to Flock hill). And most importantly, tread VERY lightly - look after the rock and the flora, and do your best to keep it pristine.

If we all do our bit, hopefully, we will all be enjoying this place for years to come.
