We were lucky enough that our little Peugeot that we brought over from Scotland started every morning :) I suppose if we had a GPS we wouldn't have gotten 'lost' in the Dolomites with severe brake pump (1st gear + handbrake) descending through a super steep glaciated mtn pass on a semi dirt road not really knowing where we were...ah the joys :-O ...we actually thought we were going to die at the time!
I hated the roads around the French coastline tho, esp around Cannes etc , they were horrible, I think we did about 50kms in one whole day of driving!
