Bouldering around Adelaide city
11:07:26 AM
Anyone got any beta on some bouldering in or around Adelaide city?
I'm heading there for the weekend and don't foresee the opportunity to get into the hills or anywhere out of the city.
I checked out some threads but couldn't find anything on bouldering near the city.
Any spots to go??

Cheerz, owen

The best bouldering is at Norton Summit, about 20min drive from city centre. In the city centre itself, Adelaide Uni had some buildings with some pretty ordinary bouldering on them. Semaphore beach (probably even further than Norton but accessible on public transport) had a very thin stone wall, not that I'm sure it's still there as they ripped down the one at Glenelg years ago. There's a gym at Holden Hill, also the better part of 20m drive from the centre. If you've got a car, just go to Norton. Adelaide climbing in general is very close to the city.

Thanks Wendy.
I'll try and get a lift out there. Just checked out the guides for that area. Looks great!

Yeah, it's as quick to get to Norton from the City as is it to get to the gym or any seaside walls. It's worth bringing a harness as well, there's usually someone there on weekends. You might even get the chance to belay Fred on his training laps!

Is there a city in Adelaide?
2:40:32 PM
There is if you compare it to, say, Natimuk. Locals refer to the ~ square mile bordered by North, South, East and West Terraces as the "city", surrounded by the "parklands", and thence the 'burbs.

I apologise if you're offended by me calling Adelaide a city.
Maybe township or settlement are more suitable?

Or perhaps "religious retreat"? It is the "City of Cathedrals" after all. I dialed up god on the great white porcelain telephone a few times when I lived there, that's for sure.

There is also bouldering at the bachelor pad, a short distance away from norton summit and some stuff you can do in belair national park if your up that way. you can download guides from the CCSA website

That would have been after a couple of pie floaters and frog cakes washed down with some Southwark or West End.

Ditto Norton
