The confluence of the Wolgan River and the Capertee River is the start of the Colo River. It has been publish that the Colo Gorge is Australia's longest.
I have got one leg sucky-type stuck up to my groin in 'quicksand' while bushwalking on all different parts of these three rivers. In hindsight it can be detected by noting elegant fingers and swirls of sand over dark mud where clear water runs over both. This water is only 4-5 cm deep at most.
Newnes to the confluence then back to Glen Davis, then over the Pipeline track to Newnes is a 4 day trip.
