Hi all. We climbed at Asses Ears in January, and before you crack it we didn't know it was closed, this is news to me.

I would say that the descent gully and the access track are not likely to suffer significant erosion from the climber access. The track never was that clear, and is certainly less so now. There are cairns all over the place though, which I don't remember from years ago. It wouldnt hurt for multiple lines of cairns to be cleaned up so that that braided tracks don't develop.

I'm all for protecting the park, and particularly delicate areas, but I have to say Parks are really overdoing it this time in my opinion. There are no similar restrictions in equally delicate areas of the Alps where walkers are welcome to go wherever the whim takes them, as is their right.
