First of all, there is no such thing as "Woodlands Hill forest reserve". It is Woodlands Historic Park. You can find out of date maps and things on the Parks Victoria web site.
The boulders Neil mentions are up behind the homestead which is accessed from Oaklands Road. If you walk further
east from the top of the hill and over the next small hill, there is a balancing stone about 4 metres high.
The biggest boulder I know of is among Sweet Bursaria and Sheoke on the western side of Gellibrand Hill. Is that the one referred to in the previous message? There are of course lots of smaller boulders on Gellibrand Hill which are probably what rupert saw,
as they are close to Mickleham Road.
There are "no parking" signs on Micklham Road so I would suggest parking in the Providence Road car park and taking the vehicle track up the hill (passing another small boulder on the way.)
There is also a boulder about 3m high further along Providence Rd.
I would like to modify Neils statement that its not worth a day trip. For bouldering it
probably isn't, for other things it might be.
By the way, there are some quite big boulders about a kilometer
down the river from Bulla township, including a vertical face with a fixed hanger. I assume its on private property though.
