I think it is quite easy to camp on Kosciuszko summit, if you think about the weather, and have done this on a windless night in January a couple of years back, but camping out closer towards Lake Albina (but not in the catchment) has more scope for getting pics of your tent in a dramatic locale. Kosciuszko is a broad flat-topped rounded hill.
I have actually tried some top-rope ice-climbing at Blue Lake in my Scarpa T3's after skinning in. T3 boots are very similar to the T4 - which lacks the 'power strap'. I used some old crampons with leather leashes that were loaned to me - the front points still protruded 4cm beyond the duck-bill of the tele boots. My mate skiied in on hired leather tele-boots, and carried his mountaineering/high-altitude trekking(?) boots in his rucksack. We agreed that what I did made more sense.
