Is this some attempt to have a dig at someone?? That overhung 20 can be protected as much as you choose, remember it is a crack, that bolted slab has had the protection spaced at whatever interval the first asecionist decided on and if you fall off that slab you could be leaving a fair amount of your own skin and blood behind.
As for the toproping comment maybe people like to try and push themselves leading without the fear of being overly cheesegrated, the topic was "introductory climbs at the grade" not "how tough are you".
Anyway crew can choose to climb what and where they want. They can read the guidebook and make up their own mind.
