Hi all,
I had a meeting with the landowners of Berridale, the property on which Logan Brae lies. In short I've negotiated continued access to the crag, but with a compromise. They have requested that no-one walk down their driveway/dirt road to access the crag in the future, or park on or near their driveway. In short, a new track will be cut in from the G-Land car park,so please park and walk in from here (when the work's finished). It's location is 100m before the existing car park (ie. the blackheath side). The track will be cut in by Mitch and myself and anyone else who wants to help, over the next week or so. Yeah that's right, the Mitch some of you love to bag. It will breach the cliffline near Andy Richo's 29's Hip to the Bumper Crop etc, then come around to the crag from the opposite direction. There is a small downclimb of a couple of metres that we'll protect with rungs/fixed line.
What I'd ask is if you're thinking of going to this crag in the next few weeks maybe give it a miss. Access is tenuous right now, once we've cut the track in I'll repost here on Choccy and all should be fine for future access. The landowners understand it may take a little time for the information to filter thru to the climbing community; please pass this info around.
Walk in time will increase marginally but hey, at least we'll still get to climb there.
Thanks,
Ado

Hey Hipster I have plenty of heavy-duty static (work rope) lengths for fixed line if this could be of use.

The new track has now been cut in and is ready for traffic. Still some steps being finished but Mitch has done a great job. Park your cars in the new spot please, it's 230 m closer to Blackheath at the obvious clearing on the same side of the road as before. Follow signs, cairns, string line etc in from here, it's a beaut walk in and takes around the same time as before. If you want a guide book insert they are available from Big John's shop, prepared by Mitch again, and free.
Still no dogs allowed at the crag. If you're down there and you see someone come in the old way please point out the new track.
