Off peak rates are $16 for up to four, and $21.50 peak periods. That's around $4 per person (one beer or latte) with hot showers, and you are calling it expensive?

Rangers have a job to do, and if you want to spend more time avoiding them than climbing it is your choice. I would rather be climbing than packing my camp and stashing gear every day.
You can camp down in the valley but will probably
>be hit by daily park entrance fees.
If you stay on the mountain you will save on the $10.30 entry fee, fuel (and therefore greenhouse gases), and save about 2 hours each day.

Even with 2 people you are only paying $8 per night, less $5.15 gate fee, about $10-15 in fuel, wear and tear on your vehicle and valuable climbing and sleeping time. And you will still have to pay for camping somewhere else.
If this is beyond your budget maybe you should take up virtual climbing on your PS3. |
