Ropes for the Araps

Hi, I'm traveling from Canada and trying to cut back weight for the plane.

Can my partner and I get through the Arapiles with a single 60 m rope? Are doubles required for decents/rappels?

Cheers and thanks in advance,
Chris

60 would generally be fine on most routes. Occasionally you may have to walk back down rather than rap.

Single rope is fine. There are no compulsory rappels longer than 30 metres. You might have to walk 5 minutes instead in some places or do an easy pitch off on one or two longer climbs.

And the compulsory warning: the "30m" rap off Muldoon (which should be on your list) requires a downclimb at the end or a 70m rope to get you all the way.

It's marked as 32m in the guide... though maybe 34m is more realistic?

A single 60 won't do it.
If you intend slacklining jc has a 200m for sale, but you need to bring your own bolts.
If you intend to tyrolean then simey, shortman, and ODH will help you out, but you will still need to bring your own bolts.

Of course always remember to tie the ends together.

Na, ya just swing onto the ledge where Surface to Air starts. It's bloody horrible.
