The drive up is also precarious after the sun starts going down because of all the freakin' roos!!! You'll even get roos hopping accross the road in the mornings through till about middayish - after then and before 6pm-ish you can almost throw caution to the wind.

If you are coming via any other route than via Victoria, Adelaide, Moonarie you'll need to excercise this caution even more, as you head north the roo numbers increase and they have a passion for hopping on the road at the last minute.

Just remember, losing a few hours on your trip by driving cautiously at night is a lot better than not making the trip at all!!!
