Hey all,

I'm just starting out climbing at my local wall and need some shoes and a harness.
My usual shoe size is 7-8 US.

I tried on a few pairs and found that 43UK is perfect, if anyone can help.

43UK? Are you a giant? :-)

43 is a European size which roughly equates to UK 9 (according to the first shoe size comparison chart that I found on the net).

I would be careful buying a 2nd hand harness. Make sure you find out how old it is and inspect it carefully for signs of wear. Harnesses, slings, ropes etc all have a theoretical lifespan of around 5 years.

You may be better off getting a brand new entry level harness. Most good shops allow you to hang in the harness to check that it's comfortable.

Good advice on the harness too, ill take it.

Sooo...shoes only needed then!
