I have a downmat 7 and have used it for glacier camping and general use. I used to use a 3/4 guidelite thermarest in combo with cheap foam mat for snow camping. Overall I much prefer the downmat.

Good points:
- more compact than thermarest
- much warmer than thermarest, no sensation of cold through the mat (also you don't get the melted out hollow under a downmat like you do with thermarests after a few days)
- much more comfortable than thermarest (really really nice to sleep on)
- dry bag that comes with it is also useful in the tent while the mat's in use

Bad points:
- inflating using the dry bag is a bit fiddly and more time consuming than a thermarest
- slightly heavier than thermarest (but avoids need to take additional mat when camping on snow so probably ahead on the weight front for snow camping.)
- mine seems to have developed a slow leak which is a real pain - really must fix but because of down filling can't use the time-honoured stick it in a bucket and look for bubbles technique
