A few months ago a friend set me a challange. She must be the one of the few people who have broken laces on both here pairs of Mythos shoes. She couldn't locate any so I tried most shops over Australia and still failed. I tried La Sportiva in Italy and then in North America. Finally I located them but they wouldn't ship to here. They had to go through a friend in the States.
All done now so I bought some extras. Is anyone wanting a pair? Unfortunately I only have them in the tan / brown colour, that's all they had.
Mythos laces are over 200cm long and longest I could find here were 165cm. I have 3 pairs and I'd like 15 bucks a pair, posted to you. Sorry there was two lots of postage just to get here.
Cheers
Ralph

this is funny/ironic/bizarre...but I think I know someone...my last trip to araps he spent the entire journey
between melb and araps rethreading his mythos's and they still stuffed it up. its quite
complicated...does the rethreading come with instructions...because buggered if my mate could get it
right!
aside...does 2m of laces make the mythos a better climbing shoe? surely this is a laugh
edit...post post addendum . I should have said...ill ask him if he wants some new laces cos he does
seem to love his mythos

Can you please PM me and discuss details.

Um...why not just make laces out of cordelette?

you think that'll work TND?
for mine any lace will do but I would have thought a lace would be required due to the small diameter of the holes and the whole complexity of the lacing system.....
but if you're sure I'll go and get some cord today

I've used cordelette on other shoes, but not on Mythos. I'm sure 3mm diameter cord will go through. And you can always take it out and use it to prussic if you're stuck!

thanks TND, that sounds like a plan, I'll let you know how it goes, great point about the prussic as well.

You won't be thinking that is a great idea to use them as prussics once you've just spent hours rethreading the laces...

hehehehehehe
to use a mixed metaphore from G. W. Bush; rethreading those laces does look like "rocket surgery"
perhaps ill just turf the mythos out afterall they are not really worth all that effort

Or you take the laces out to prussic, then your shoes fall off while you're setting it up...

Personally I'd agree with you TND.. it's just she had tried joining ordinary laces, 3mm cord and 6mm cord with the kermantle removed..
I doubt I would have gone chasing over the world unless 2 things.. She really wanted the original laces and she hadn't tried other options.
Bob.. Email sent..

I wouldn't fancy repeatedly stepping up on a loop of 3mm in bare feet...

I guess if you're dangling below P6 of Hotel California you haven't got much choice...perhaps remove shirt and tear into strips to wrap around feet...unless you drop the shirt too...or unless you're Skinny Dave in which case you wouldn't be wearing a shirt.

The mythos laces are not too hard to rethread just really tricky - centre the lace at the heel first.
In the field you can usely just shift the lace along and tie a knot - mine had a few in them.
165cm laces may have worked - one of my pairs only allowed a tiny tie-up intead of all the extra stuff
Whilst we are talking Sportiva - Does anyody have any Mirage's (red-bent-Mythos) to sell: 37 -39?

I agree, I find my Mythos laces are too long, and I have to tie the knot twice to take up the slack.
Mythos are just brilliant all day shoes, and still capable of doing hard stuff!
