Does anyone have one of these tucked away and not being used? (good condition and cheap obviously...)
I figure there must be loads that kids have outgrown so it seems a waste to buy a new one.
We have just spent a few weeks camped at the pines with the kids (2 & 4yo). They loved it and are keen to climb more.
We will be around Melbourne for the next week or two.

I dont know which of these kids harnesses you are going to get but i can comment on the Petzl Oustiti which is quite popular and if you cant find 2 hand they are about USD 50 each from a us supplier eg Back Country. I've never seen one for sale in an Aus shop but surely they must be ...?

Anyway, re second hand use take care: I had a new Oustiti for my older child then passed it on the 2nd child, after a few uses the elastic holding the shoulder straps started to stretch to a point he could actually get out of it while it was done up. There is no real waist band on these harnesses so there is a risk he could fall out. I fixed it temporarily with some thin tape but i ended up buying a new Oustiti. That wasn't perfect either as the later models have very stiff nylon inserts to prevent wear on the leg loops and these dig into the kids inner thighs so i ended up trimming these which does not compromise the safety but makes the harness more pleasant to wear. We are still using the Oustiti i think M will go to a sit/waist harness soon but not quite yet; when he puts the Ouson we go through a 'houdini' moment to make sure he cant wriggle or slip out of it. Kids like the offer of a mars bar if they can get out of a tied harness at the Pines campsite and its cheaper than a pine box.

I was cleaning up some climbing gear and found a petzl Simba that the kids used to use indoors

It has only been used a couple of times indoors and has been stored with my other climbing gear, they have long outgrown this harness, its probably 5YO?

You can have it for $20 plus postage or I work in the Melb CBD and could arrange drop in town.
