camping with kids is great. kids love it and it is much easier than you may expect.
We bought a new tent for family camping and we take a portacot and a child carrier and all sorts of kid related equipment. In fact instead of being able camp for several days with just what we could carry in a backpac pac we now take a small trailer. A portacot may seem a bit over the top but we found that emily sleeps much better in a cot than on the floor with us. We also have a small folding camping cot which is fine for a young baby but crawlers and toddlers would soon escape from. Instead of a sleeping bag my daughter sleeps in something called a baby sleeper which is like a sleeping bag with arms. If you are concerned try a night somewhere near home so you can bail. Although if you wife is 8 months pregnant I suspect your not going anywhere for a little while.
My wife is about 4 1/2 months along with number two so I am keen to do as much as i can in the next few months before life gets a bit more complicated. We do plan to keep going out with two kids and my wife is keen to get climbing again.
