Damn straight. It's not like 'religion' (using the term broadly) ever did anything for society.

We'd all be better off if universities hadn't been invented. And those women in Ethiopia who suffer from Vesico-vaginal fistulas (and are social outcasts as a result, because they are more or less permanently incontinent) would be heaps better off without Christian doctors like Catherine Hamlin.

Seriously, if you can't see the positive influence that religion has had and continues to have in the world then you have pretty much swallowed Chris hitchen's propaganda hook line and sinker. I don't think he truly believes all the things he wrote... Anyway, I'm not so naive as to think that all this influence has been positive.

What makes you so sure that a world without religion would be a better world?
