I do like paper guides, since they are more 'me proof' but most are still a little bit vague...especially if you are not familliar to the area.

When I head out I take a printed guide with me, and load up myTracks on my mobile. myTracks will log the route on my phone to a 5m radius. When I reach the destination, I just save my new route on my phone. Climb the climbs whilst referring to the printed guide, and then when I get home load up all of my logged routes on google maps (pretty straight forward) and then pencil the final location gps co-ords into my guide for future reference.

The gps co-ords are super useful for someone like me, as I can flick them over to my mates pretty easily via an sms, and they can either plug into their gps/phones/whatever or look up the exact location of the crag on google maps.

This is a heap easier than trying to explain which turn off to take in the scrub, how far approx you have to travel before you park, then how far you have to then hike etc....especially when there is no phone reception anywhere near the crag.

Even non computer savvy people can paste some number into google maps, print it off and stuff it in their pocket along with their guide book. Make life heaps easier, and avoids a lot of confusion and bumbles in the scrub.
