Help needend choosing between 2 ropes. 10-May-2004 At 10:53:40 AM shmalec

I have a 9.9mm BW engergiser dry I got some time ago for alpine stuff.
It was way expensive as I got it in NZ but a very nice rope. However, it is not a "workhorse" that I would use for lots of top roping and indoor climbing. It will lose its stretch quickly if you do this. I would suggest you get the 10mm 60m rope now and when you get to europe, get yourself a 10.5 or 11mm "gym" rope for top roping and indoor stuff (they will be lots cheaper there). This will add a year or two to your nice 60m rope. Alternatively, just keep track of how much permanent stretch you have and be willing to replace your rope a bit more regularly.

I also have a 10.5mm Mammut flash and I consider this one to be alot more durable and hard wearing. This is the 'workhorse'.

Mmmmm....new rope. :)
