For those who've been around long enough, you may remember Brit climber Chris Dale (all 6' 6" of him) visiting these shores back in the 80s and leaving his mark on Big Glassy in the Wolgan. Well the sad news is that he passed away as a result of cancer on February 19th, aged 49. There is an obituary in London's Daily Telegraph with a possible surprise...

RIP Chris

I read the obituary and talk about a surprise. To discover that he established routes ground up and without abseil inspection totally floored me.

No, I prefer to leave it to the experts... like Eduardo.

"messing about with a 6'6" transvestite mountaineer built like a brick shithouse by drunkenly sticking your hand up his skirt is never too good an idea."

Thats brilliant. However, it seems unfortunate, almost unfair that a climber such as him with so many daring exploits died of cancer.

Always sad news to hear of another passing. Thanks for posting Dave C and condolences to any family or friends.

From my memory, Chris - or 'Crystal', was a super-friendly person. And was an early pioneer on Gogarth in North Wales.
RIP.
