Im not sure... I suppose fire risk over summer is a consideration and it would make sense to ban it at the Grampians too, but there you have a national park with people camping in many different spots and there are usually fewer people. I guess that would be harder to enforce.
Arapiles has a constant stream of climbers so I would think its just "easier" over the entire summer season to say "no fires".
The collection of firewood would be the other major reason I'd think... there is not too much already and I have seen people previously pulling down what they considered dead trees and stomping around in the bush to find the wood.
Or maybe they want climbers to freeze and got the months wrong on the paperwork :) |
