Perhaps I should have said: ... you will find that given the option you will reach/step up with 
your preferred side. Even if the move may be the least efficient.   
 
I will admit that most often when I have come un-stuck, it has been because I followed the wrong sequence. Some times in spite of my better judgement. But most often than not its because I started off leading with my right side. Why because I prefer it.  
 
Regrettably the option to fail is always there.
