Ell, I haven't ordered from Barrabes but I have ordered things in from the States (Black Diamond) a couple of times and had some 'issues' with customs. The big one, of course is that if the value is over a certain amount it gets taxed, and you also get to pay for the priviledge of having it inspected (about $50 or so). One interesting thing to note is that there is (or was, at least) a different threshold for couriered items versus mailed items. The threshold for mailed stuff is about double that of stuff that comes by courier (something like $500 vs $250). Details will be on the Customas website, but from memory are hard to find (took me ages of surfing through documents to verify this when i got stung). Of course, if standard mail is hard to insure, but that's the tradeoff.
