I have seen four bolt plates lift off in unison, leaving the climber with no pro whatsoever and a couple of moves to the next bolt.
I was belaying, it's a funny thing to tell your climber that every draw just fell off behind them.
I still think carrots are safe.
Simply by using a variety of lengths for the draws, this wouldn't happen.
Checking compatibility of the biners before climbing will also prevent it.
I have seen two U bolts self unclip as the draw rotated to accommodate a climber changing directions above it.
There is as yet no single solution for attaching draws to rock that does not have a caveat. |
