When did rock climbing first start in Victoria?
Was it at Sugarloaf back in the 1930s?
I'll see if I can find reference to it in an old ARGUS. If it was back in the '30s then the history of climbing in Victoria fits into alignment with NSW and Q'land and needs a major revision in the overall scheme of things in Victorian climbing history. I always thought it was odd that Vic climbing started so long after the other states when the number of immigrants, mainly Poms, were spread pretty evenly amongst the states. |
