As RodW quotes, two bouldering areas are mentioned in relation to potential negative impact on Aboriginal cultural sites. But at only one site is the banning of bouldering proposed. Action A2 sates:

"Prohibit recreational activities from site DMC4 because of Aboriginal heritage sensitivities - mechanism(s) for protection (e.g. signage, education, monitoring) to be determined in consultation with Aboriginal community."

This seems to be area on the other side Reknown Rd called ‘The Backline’. This recommendation seems fair enough, and it is not a great loss for bouldering in the area.

The other site ARC1 does seem to be the cave under Paratroopin’ next to the main wall at the Frontline. It’s not marked clearly on the plan, but after talking to one of the climbers who was there when they surveyed the place, she said this was mentioned as an Aboriginal site.

While the draft plan of management doesn’t recommend banning bouldering at ARC1 or anywhere else, other stake holders may make this recommendation in this draft stage, and we can’t be sure what recommendations may be made in the future. As such, the ‘taking really good care of the place’ (particularly the caves) that other people have already stressed seems very important, as does responding to the draft plan in some form. I am happy to write a personal submission (in which I’ll say I agree broadly with the plan). But other people may also want write something in. Peter.
