I'd have to say that if you REALLY want to learn how to crack climb, do it on concrete, brick, or a crack machine. Most easy cracks are low angle enough that you're not forced into using good technique. They're also usually littered with face holds and features in the crack itself. You can also run laps on the corner at Heidelberg bridge without using face holds and placing gear; only stemming, palm presses, and body-scumming. A bit spicier are the finger cracks at Northlands shopping center, many of which were eliminated with a new facade. The 'Bourne doesn't have much good buildering, the best is usually cracks between two or three story brick and concrete buildings.
