I understand what Rob's saying here, but I think that really only applies to a sport climb where bolting for a reasonable amount of safety to be highly considered. The hard part for me is where and when do you place the glue in carrot on a mixed climb. I suppose the rock and your judgment on whether the placement fits in with the feel for the rest of the natural placements on the climb.

I like 'sport' climbing. Not having to worry about having a long run out and just doing the moves. I also like climbing on gear as it keeps the sport climbing in perspective. I don't mind the carrots on trad mixed climbs but very much prefer well bolted rings on sport climbs. (I really hate that it's called sport climbing as well. I can't think what else to call though)
