Personally I don't like carrots for their inherant engineering issues. I don't mind glued in bolts but the ones with only part of the shaft threaded as opposed to proper machine bolts where all of the shaft is threaded. Maybe a standard needs to be introduced to deal with these in terms of head and shaft diameter and head height. If in a mixed or predominantly trad area I would use glue in bolts as it lend sitself more to the feel of trad placements. If doing a fully equiped sports climb in sandstone then I would use Jim Titts twisted rings with long legs and shorter legs in granite or harder stone.
