ACT Granite guidebook has at least one 'occasional resident' snake at The Cloisters - probably long gone if not burned; and (a few years back) was belaying Mel on her first real lead Equilibrium 17 at Booroomba when I heard a sort of dry rattling sound ... she had dislodged a young Eastern Brown and it was doing a controlled fall by way of the rope towards the belayer ... it fetched up in a bush just above me ... we did a mutually cautious avoidance movement - "nice snake ... you don't really WANT that Friend... " "... ssss ..."
