. The first panel really wasn't a jug fest. In fact I saw more people diving off the crux of this panel than anywhere else along the wall. I would favour either (a) having this as a genuinely easier (say 22-ish) route whereby people can warm up, or (b) not bothering to reinstate it. I climbed there before it existed and it was no improvement when it came along ... just that annoying bit you had to do while you were trying to link the lot.
. "... ranging in abilities and styles ..." - yes on the comment on styles, but the most important thing to do is to have a route across that is consistent in difficulty. If you get too many people, you threaten this consistency. Remember, with original grades of around 25, 27, 25 and 24 (my estimates) it was never easy ...
Besides, I don't think anyone suggested a single person set the whole lot, but by the same token, you can't have too many. Furthermore, the previous experience would be a pre-requisite given that with a glue-up you really only get one chance to set it. After that, it's set in stone (so to speak) until the next corporate fascist bully-boy with a hammer comes along ...
