"Swedish adventurer Tony Berglund will attempt a Guinness World Record-breaking attempt in Vertical Run, and to do it faster than Usain Bolt’s 100 metres in 9.58 seconds. The attempt involves running 100 metres down the front of a skyscraper in Västerås using a rope, and the goal is to beat the world record and to do it faster than Usain Bolt. The current world record in Vertical Run of 36.25 seconds is held by Steve Jones. With a platform on the roof the building “Skrapan” will become 100 metres high for one day. The record-breaking attempt will be made by Tony Berglund, using an old military technique called rappelling, which involves running down the front of a building using a rope. The high speed up to 90 km per hour will generate a heat of almost 500 degrees. A specially constructed carbon dioxide cooled rappelling device has been developed in order to reduce the risk of the rope melting."
