Diesel price premium |

My understanding is that the relative cost of petrol and diesel depends on the relative demand, as they are split out of the same crude oil. More demand for diesel means that what's left over from making petrol is not enough so they have to source it elsewhare. This means that as the mining industry which is a huge user of diesel gets back on its feet the price of diesel can be expected to rise faster than the price of petrol.
As for the warranty. A car maker will only void the warranty on account of bad fuel if the bad fuel was the cause of the problem. So if fuel is really going to cause a problem, it will still be a problem after the warrenty expires.
