Yes, I too saw this in Yangshou. As did my girlfriend, who was very upset by it... luckily I was there to reassure her that because she is ethnically Chinese she actually must like to cook and eat dog because it is her ethnic disposition...just like the all the Chinese Australians in Ararat...

This country has a history of mistreating ethnic minorities (that I argue continues to this day) and ‘humour’ has been (is?) often used to make light of or justify socially created ethnic hierarchies. I am sure that his particular generalisation has not always been made with the same understanding that it now is, so maybe we should be a little more thoughtful about how we frame our jokes...???

For the sake of argument, I just told my GFs sister to read your post... her reaction, “what a stereotypical d%$K head”
