The article you linked to proved my point entirely. These three were "a little late" and were met by police while walking out. They were not rescued. A proper rescue rarely occurs. They were charged for engaging in risky actions in a park. They were then were escorted out (NOT RESCUED) by cops pissed off for getting wet. People have rarely, if ever been fined for canyoning. If this fine goes unchallenged it will be a first time legal occurrence that will set the stage for future legal actions. (that's a precedent, duh)

How many times do the cops look for an old lady who gets lost walking her dog time after time after time? Or any number of stupid situations where the cops are called for nothing? Finally, cops risking their safety to protect idiots is EXACTLY WHAT THEY GET PAID TO DO. To start fining people for police doing there job is stupid. Its a dangerous precedent for adventure sports as well.
