Sorry, Wallwombat. You are right, perhaps my approach was somewhat blunt. You obviously have lots of experience, that's why I'm a bit confused.

Surely with that experience you would understand that different canyons have different conditions on any given day. I don't think accusing all people of being stupid for canyoning on a particular day is reasonable. I wouldn't go into Spring Creek after that amount of rain either, but Bungonia limestone canyons are very different from Blue Mountains sandstone canyons.

That is why there were a number of guides out working on the weekend , about 15 I can think of in canyons. I guess they are all bad.

There has been one commercial fatality canyoning (and that was due to the patient having a heart attack) in the past 15 years. How many recreational ?

My inital point was that the issue shouldn't be about canyoning, it was about them tresspassing.
