to JDP and andesite: I still recommend stationery slacklining-the world's most boring but effective exercise. created when you don't have the space or have way to much snow to set up a proper slackline. get 2 meters of webbing, really tight about 20 cm off the ground. two major goals: don't move (no bouncing, walking etc...) while standing on line, and control your breathing. alternate right and left foot forward, put an analog clock in front of you, and work on sets of 30, 45, 60 seconds. this will work your small and large core muscles, vastly improve your anaerobic fitness (which is what climbing is) and a full workout takes about 15 minutes. you can challenge yourself by holding 1 or 2 liter water bottles in alternating hands. it's very boring but you can always listen to music or watch tv or something.
