Bumblie has nothing to do with climbing grades. It's a term that has been used over the years to describe someone who is inexperienced when it comes to climbing techniques and handling climbing equipment. We all start out as bumblies.
I once asked HB about heights and fear after he'd soloed Ozymandius at Buffalo. His reply was that he overcame both by trusting his equipment and his knowledge of how to use it.
Remember the old climbing addage - there are old climbers and bold climbers but no old bold climbers - read Claws interview about checking knots. |
